Org Chart & Reporting Chart

Two different views of your people, easy to confuse by name alone — one shows your formal department structure, the other shows who actually reports to whom.

The distinction that matters: Org Chart is your department/position structure — divisions, roles, and open positions you're hiring for. Reporting Chart is your real management chain — built entirely from each Employee's "Manager" field, and completely separate from the Org Chart.

Org Chart

1

Build your structure

Side menu → Staff → Org Chart. Click any box in the chart to select it, then use the toolbar above: Add Root Node for a new top-level division, Add Child to place something under the selected box, Rename, Move (reparent it elsewhere), or Deactivate.

2

Track open positions

A position with nobody in it yet shows with a dashed red border and "(Open)" next to its name — an at-a-glance view of exactly where you're hiring.

3

Two things worth knowing

Deactivating a node doesn't reassign anything under it. Any child positions or Employees still pointing at a deactivated unit stay exactly where they are — deactivating just hides that unit from pickers and grids going forward.
Branches always render fully expanded — there's currently no way to collapse a large subtree, so a chart with many levels can get tall. Not a bug, just how it works today.

Reporting Chart

4

See who reports to whom

Side menu → Staff → Reporting Chart. This is entirely read-only here — each box shows an Employee's name, job title, and mobile phone (if on file). There's nothing to click or edit on this page itself.

5

Set it from the Employee record

To place someone on this chart, open their Employee record and set their Manager field. If nobody has a Manager set yet, this page will simply say so and point you to that field — there's no separate "reporting chart editor."

Same collapse limitation as Org Chart applies here too — every branch renders fully open.
